Going Viral like a virus

Trust me.. I tried to do a video on this "Going Viral" topic, but it was so hard to shot a short clip when your roommate is around. Secondly, I bet you have no idea how incredible is the WiFi connection in here. Life in hostel is like that lorh.. what to expect.. So ended up didn't manage to do a video again.. But hey!! This is the fail part when I was rehearsing... Even uploading this video took me 2hours.. great...

So here goes the topic..
Going Viral and provide a real life example based on myyyy opinion.

Alright so going viral simply means that things are spreading which also means that my assumption was right. I hooked up into the dictionary and found this.

The "Viral" term comes from the word "Virus" which explains the idea of virus is "spreading"

So we are talking about media going viral, best to be explained is to use Youtube as a channel to be the example. The reason for choosing Youtube is because it has counts and numbers of viewers/subscribers or likers. Plus Youtube is one of the most used video channel worldwide-ly.
Most importantly, all these allows the Youtuber(guy who post video) to make evaluation on his video, knowing how many person like or dislike, how many person shared his video, how many person actually view the particular video. All of these can make counts which means that the more the view, the more the "going viral" begins.

And firstly, how does it gone viral?
I believe that it is a basic concept from public relations - how to make news values.
With the 7 elements (7 is what I had learn la) - Unusualness, proximity, prominence, timeliness, conflict, newness, significance. And the number 8 human interest.
Although this news value only apply to "NEWS" only, but it is kinda practical. It can be for games or others too.
These elements are what grab attention from the audience and make things spread from one audience to ten, hundred to thousand and to million and million more.

Secondly, we look at the elements in the video. Yeah this time is not news value, but "video value".
Time taken - The duration of video could lead to a factor that making internet video gone viral.
Trending - Ofcause we are looking for something that is trending in the social network, generation. I believe that Marilyn Monroe video is no longer a trend comparing to MileyCyrus. To attract viewers, we have to know what is happening in the world.
And the rest is pretty much covered by the "news value"

This is the selected video for my example "Wrecking BALL" from MileyCyrus
Well this video was published on 9 Sep 2013. For the current count, it has 536,396,802 views all over the world and with thumbs up plus 983,066 dislikes.

And why is that so many counts? I will explain the reason based on those elements.
First MileyCyrus used to be famous...well she is still famous now.. But she was already kinda famous before wrecking balls! Her "Party In the USA" song was one of the hitz on radio. Not to forget she was a disney girl when she was younger. All these factor makes her a celebrity, which means = PROMINENCE.

And I could say that this is a UNUSUALNESS and HUMAN INTEREST which leads to CONFLICT! The reason I said so is because this is really a very unusual movie video which creates interest for boys and girls. Miley was actually singing a good song but..she moves like a jagger(unusualness) makes people horny(interesting) , some angry(conflict). With a movie view which consist of inappropriate screen is very unusual.. Some (parents) gets angry because of the ethical issue, she as a celebrity will influence the young one to follow as well. Standard MV with a 3:43 minutes, get 500millions attention. And not to forget both youtube and facebook have the sharing power, these new media's ability allows the video spread even faster. This is how things gone viral. Grabbing people's attention with something....hmm..

EVEN the parody version get 100million views.

Hope you enjoy it :) time to sleep~
